Welcome to the 2011/2012 season of the Harlequins Malvern Mini League. Once again organised by the southern section of Harlequins, MADO, this season will be similar to last season as we go a bit further afield to use areas other than the Malvern ones we have used before. Two events will be organised by North Gloucestershire Orienteering Club - NGOC - and form part of their own popular mini league, so you'll have a chance to score points in two leagues on one day.
The league will consist of four four courses as usual, Yellow, Orange, Green and Blue, so there is a course for everyone from the youngest beginner to the experienced orienteer. There will be plenty of help on hand for anyone who wants it. There are 8 events and your best four results will make up your cumulative score in the league.
The league scoring system for this season will be the same as last season, with the average time for the first three runners on the course being equivalent to 1000 points, and runners times will be used to calculate their points using the formula: 1000 x (average time for first three runners)/ (runners time).
In February we will be using a brand new area, Bringsty Common, Near Bromyard. Due to restrictions on the common and limited parking this event will be pre-entry only - entries open on January 3rd at Fabian4. Advanced information is here.
For the first time we will have an urban race in Great Malvern. Full details of this event are here.Details of which course to run will be available soon.
Two events will take place on a Sunday morning, with registration from 10.00 - Noon and starts from 10.30 - 12.30. These events will be a slightly larger, and have more courses on offer. You may run the Light Green, Short Green or Green course to count points in the Green League, and Brown or Blue to count in the Blue League. Points will be adjusted by using a ratio of the climb adjusted lengths of the two courses. Entry fees for these two events will be a little higher as they are higher status events with more costs and runners may need to pre-enter.
As in previous years prizes will be awarded to the best man, woman, boy, girl and family group, to include at least one junior and one senior, on each course in the league.
Keep checking the web site for updates throughout the season.
